Custodial Cross Trainings and Collaborations
Staff enrolled in cross training program
Each summer, Building and Custodial Services (BCS) and members of the Dining staff join forces to support campus operations during the high-demand Summer Conference Season. Through this program, part-time Dining employees can work as Senior Custodians with BCS, upgrading conference spaces that require hotel-like amenities and linen services. The partnership helps meet increased BCS needs and allows Dining employees to continue working through the summer. This year, 76 Dining team members joined the program, making it a continued success for both departments and a strong example of cross-campus collaboration.
In addition, Building & Custodial Services (BCS) offers a Custodial Supervisor I Cross Training Program that gives RRSS staff a chance to step into leadership roles. Cross trainers help oversee temporary staff, manage custodial operations, and ensure residential spaces are ready for conference guests and fall move-ins. Participants also attend leadership classes to build their skills in supervision, communication, and team management. Many participants have gone on to earn permanent supervisory positions. Meet our 2025 cross trainers, selected from BCS, Dining, and GFH!
