Dear Parents/Guardians of 2018-19 residents,

We hope everyone is enjoying their summer. While your student is enjoying some time off, we felt it was important to provide you with some items to keep in mind as you start preparing for the upcoming school year.

Room Assignment Portal

The MyRoomAssignment Portal is now available to view. Your student will receive a link to the Housing web page portal (called MyRoomAssignment Portal); only teh student may log on to this page. This portal contains the students’ move in time and date, room assignment, roommates and roommates email. This allows students to start coordinating what to bring to campus.

Dining Plan Options

Students will have the opportunity to select a Dining Plan that best suits their needs. You should have received a brochure  from Dining Services detailing the different options that your student can select from.  Your student will be able to make their Dining Plan selection via their MyRoomAssignment portal in late August/early September. See details on Housing and Dining options.

Move-In

Your student’s assigned move-in date and time is available on the MyRoomAssignment Portal.  If your student needs to move in earlier, there will be a limited number of early move-in time slots available to choose from on the MyRoomAssignment Portal. If your student’s orientation is earlier than September 19, please note that they will be moving in the date of their orientation. Please make sure that you plan accordingly. If you have any questions regarding move-in, please contact your Residential Life Office.

In order to alleviate traffic and congestion during move in, students will be assigned a specific move in date and time. For those students attending a September orientation, the move in time and date was adjusted by their College of ResLife office. Please have your student review their MyRoomAssignment Portal for complete details. There is also a limited option to adjust the move-in date to an earlier date. This will be based on a first-come first-served basis and it will also be available through the MyRoomAssignment Portal. Feel free to contact the Residential Life Office directly for questions regarding Early Move-In information or any special circumstances.

Direct Deposit

Having direct deposit not only makes receiving refunds a breeze, it is also very easy to set up. If you would like to help your student set up direct deposit, please click on the link below to help them register their student account for direct deposit. Please keep in mind that you will need the student PID and password.  Visit TritonLink for instructions on setting up direct deposit

Housing Bill / Installment Plans

You can expect your student’s first Housing bill in early September.  There are 3 installment plans to choose from for Housing charges: pay in full, quarterly or monthly. If your student receives any form of financial aid, whether it is loans or grants, we recommend that they select quarterly since financial aid is disbursed to the student’s account on a quarterly basis. When the students filled out their preferences during the housing contracting period, they were able to indicate which installment plan they preferred. Your student was emailed in late August regarding changing their installment plan (if needed) before the housing charges are applied.

Become an Authorized Payor

Want to be able to log in with your own username and password to view your student’s billing statement AND receive notifications every time your student has an outstanding balance due? Become an authorized payer! Have your student go to Authorize A Payer to set you up with access to their billing statement.

Special Dietary Needs

Dining Services makes every attempt to accommodate students who require specialty diets. Individuals should contact our Registered Dietitian at hdhdietitian@ucsd.edu; she will then assist in coordinating with Dining facilities so that your student gets assistance in identifying suitable menu choices.

UC San Diego Email Account

Please remind your student to check their UC San Diego email account frequently. All correspondence from the University is typically emailed to their UC San Diego email account and not their personal email accounts.

Grad Guard Renters Insurance

Grad Guard provides college residents with the ability to protect their belongings. Their coverage is exclusively built for students and campus residents with low deductibles and convenient monthly plans. For more information please visit https://gradguard.com. 

Triton Card Accounts Services

This office manages the spending accounts on the student campus ID card which include: Dining Dollars, the Laundry account that residents use at the laundry facilities on campus, and Triton Cash, the university's pre-paid spending account which can be used in over 60+ locations on and off campus and is also used to rent Bike Lockers.

Make a deposit, check your balance and/or open a Triton Cash account; it's convenient, fast and easy by visiting the Online Card Office. 

Dining Plan: your student’s campus ID card will link to the Dining Plan Dollars that are included in the Housing Contract.

Laundry Account: all residents will also need to deposit money into a Laundry account if they want to use the washers and dryers on campus.  Student residents will be able to access and use the laundry facilities in their housing communities by depositing funds into their laundry account. Their laundry account is synced up to their school ID and will be automatically available to use from the moment they arrive on campus. Students and parents are able to make deposits to their laundry accounts online.

Triton Cash: Triton Cash accounts are optional alternate forms of payment for any UC San Diego student.  Students may open up a Triton Cash account at any time as an alternative to carrying their bank cards.
