Conference Services, a division of UC San Diego’s department of Housing • Dining • Hospitality, conducts full-service meeting planning events, hosts conference groups and camps, and offers short-term housing to guests of the University during the summer. The season lasts approximately twelve weeks, beginning after Spring Commencement and closing with Labor Day weekend. During this time we house over 180 conference groups which vary each year and may include academic groups, computer programming, extended learning programs, family reunions, professional workshops, sport camps, weight loss camps, and more.

Student employees may work at Conference Desk locations and/or the Conference Services office, depending on your position type and currently scheduled duties. All employees will be exposed to the fields of hospitality, conference and event planning, and office administration.

Hospitality Clerks are the face of Hospitality and Conference Services’ summer operations! Perform duties similar to that of a front‐desk agent of a hotel: provide exceptional customer service to our clients and visitors, conduct checkin/outs, process charges and payments, maintain inventories, relay messages, and provide administrative support to Hospitality and Conference Services. Hospitality Clerks primarily work at an assigned Conference Desk but may be scheduled to work other desk locations, in the Hospitality and Conference Services office, and at “mobile” locations across the UC San Diego campus as needed. Must work variable shifts, including late night shifts at the The Village Conference Desk.
8 Positions | 15.65 per hour + Summer Housing Perquisite (June 19 – September 8, 2017)
Hospitality Coordinators are team leaders who provide operational and administrative assistance to Hospitality and Conference Services. Hospitality Coordinators are required to live on‐campus in provided Student Housing during the summer season and are required to be On‐Call, with rotating shifts between peer Hospitality Coordinators. Responsibilities include oversight of an assigned Conference Desk, overseeing completion of tasks, managing inventories and equipment, assisting with staff shortages, and responding to a wide‐range of client needs. Directly assist with execution of Conference Groups including pre‐arrival and on‐site coordination. Assist with training and scheduling as needed. Primary work assignment includes Conference Desks and/or the Hospitality and Conference Services office.
1 Position | $13.30 per hour (April 1 – September 8, 2017)
The Accounting Clerk will process, reconcile, and verify various transactions, prepare recaps and daily deposits to the Central Cashier, and train Hospitality Clerks on cash register and cash handling procedures. The Accounting Clerk will report to the Operations Manager and will also receive work assignments from the office career staff.
2 Positions | $13.30 per hour (April 1 ‐ September 8, 2017)
Database Clerk is responsible for creating conference reports, billing conference groups, working with the custom database (Conference Programmer) daily, and supporting the main office. Database Clerks primarily work in the Conference Services office. During summer season, must be available for Full-Time employment, may not take summer session classes, and no second job at UC San Diego.
