How can I get phone service?
You may want to consider cellular phone service for your primary line. Less than one third of our residents subscribe to a land line. If you want a phone and answering machine, be sure to bring them with you.
If I don’t bring a computer, am I at a disadvantage?
Having your own computer would be more convenient; however, computer labs are available throughout campus. Printing is also available. Please check http://www-act.ucsd.edu/maps/ to locate computer labs on campus. Having a laptop is strongly encouraged for space savings and the fact that there will be wireless internet access in this community.

Will housekeeping clean my space?
Residents are responsible for the cleaning of their private sleeping areas and the common areas within their apartments.
What if I am an eligible person with a disability and I need Housing accommodations?
As a UCSD member with a dependent disability, you may be eligible to receive accommodations in your housing assignment. You will be required to initially complete and refer, to a certifying professional, the Housing Services Clinical Documentation For Accommodation Form. Once completed and returned, the accommodation documentation will be reviewed. This documentation and appropriate recommendations will be maintained by the Residence Life Liaison. When you are contacted for an assignment, the professional staff will work to ensure that all reasonable accommodations are met prior to move-in. DINING PLAN
How does the dining program work?
Included in the cost of your Housing contract there is a Meal Plan (Dining Dollars). It functions just like a declining balance bankcard where you can go to any of the 12 Housing and Dining locations that we operate between the hours of 7:00am and 1:00am. The items are rung up, your student ID card is swiped, and the amount is debited. Your remaining balance is displayed after each use. You can choose between meal plan options; the base plan or the buy up plan.
Can I change or cancel my dining plan?
Our Housing and Dining plan is a comprehensive room and board program. The Dining Plan cannot be dropped, refunded, or transferred to Triton Cash. You do have the “Buy Up” option for meal points, please check http://hdh.ucsd.edu/diningplan/buyup.asp for further information.
Where can I eat?
The first meal begins your first Saturday at dinner. You may eat at any of the cafeterias and restaurants across campus. (Please note that the Price Center restaurants do not take meal plan points, but will take Triton Cash).
I need groceries. Where can I go?
We proudly offer our own Village Place and Market in building 3, where you can purchase fresh food and ready-made food. We accept meal points too! You can also check out the grocery shops on campus which also accept meal points. Nearby grocery stores (all within 1-3 miles) include Ralph's, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Vons and Bristol Farms.
