UC San Diego Housing: Room Assignment 2016

Welcome to UC San Diego Housing! Welcome Letters/Emails will be sent out in early-August with information on move-in. Room assignment information will be accessible online beginning the afternoon of August 4th by clicking on the Login button below.

Information about move-in will continue to be updated so please check back often!

Please review the important information below as these options may affect your move-in. Don’t forget to print your Qwik-Pass or have it available on your mobile device. It is required for check-in (available when you view your room assignment)!

All students MUST be checked-in by 4:00pm on Thursday, September 22nd, 2016. If you are not arriving until after that date you must contact your Residential Life Office.

Notice: Please be sure to review the browser requirements for a successful login. For students that had received a previous error message, please try again. Room Assignment Login

Questions about room assignments or move-in information should be directed to your Residential Housing Area.

Questions about the contract, prepayment, cancellation or dining plan should be directed to Housing Administrative Services at housinginfo@ucsd.edu or by phone at 858.534.4010.


Assigned Move-In Date/Time

When you are able to view your room assignment (August 4th), students are each given an assigned move-in date and time designed to better regulate traffic flow and avoid crowded conditions on move-in weekend. Students who cannot make their assigned move-in date/time or decide to change this assigned date/time, can do so by clicking on the Change Move-In Date button and selecting a new date/time from the options available (when viewing their room assignment). A confirmation email will be sent to the student’s UC San Diego email address with any changes made to their assigned move-in date/time. The deadline for any changes is Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11:59pm! No other changes will be permitted after this date. Questions should be directed to your Residential Life Office. Please refer to your Welcome Letter/Email as it will contain specific move-in details!

Please note that your assigned move-in date/time is designed to help make your move-in a smoother process. Any changes to that assigned move-in date/time may result in longer waiting periods for parking, elevators and check-in.

Alternate or Early Move-In Options

We know many students are attending a September Orientation or you may just want the option to move-in early. Please check below to see what early arrival options are available to you and the cost associated with an early move-in. The charge for moving in early will be assessed to your housing account in October. All students must be moved-in by Thursday, September 22nd at 4:00pm.

Village Resident

  • Early move-in option available: September 14 to September 16 at $50/day
  • The Village will offer an early move-in option beginning on September 14th. The cost is $50/day prior to the contract start day of September 17th. Your student account will be charged if you move-in early. If you don’t want an early move-in option, then you can change your date/time if needed for September 17th or September 18th (move-in weekend). Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information.

New Incoming Transfer Student At The Village

  • Orientation move-in option available: September 9, September 12, September 13 at $42/day
  • Early move-in option available: September 14 to September 16 at $50/day
  • If you are attending your Orientation any time between September 7th and 13th, you will have the opportunity to move-in early at a rate of $42/day for September 9th, September 12th or September 13th only. Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information. Please note that this is not required for Orientation and is your choice to move-in early.

    If you are attending your Orientation after September 17th (contract start date) and beyond, you will have the opportunity to move-in early beginning on September 14th at a cost of $50/day. Your student account will be charged if you move-in early. If you don’t want an early move-in option, then you can change your date/time if needed for September 17th or September 18th (move-in weekend). Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information.

New Incoming First-Year Freshmen – Attending September Orientation

  • Early Move-In (based on College dates) from Wednesday, September 14 thru Friday, September 16.
  • If you are attending a September Orientation during the week of September 14 – September 16, you should be planning to arrive based on the specific date your College offered Orientation and housing. If you are not assigned a specific date/time based on your Orientation start date, you will have the option to select from early arrival move-in dates/times offered by your Residential Housing Area. If your College offered housing as part of the Orientation package, your College will bill your student account. If your College did not offer housing as an option during Orientation sign up, but has early arrival options available to you to choose from, you can select to move-in early and will be charged the $50/day rate through Housing. Questions about September Orientation should be directed to your College Residential Life Office.

    SIXTH COLLEGE: All Incoming First-Year students for Sixth College will be moving in on Sunday, September 11th. Orientation housing charges cover your stay before the housing contract starts on September 17th.

New Incoming First-Year Freshmen – Already Attended June Orientation

  • Early move-in option available: September 14 to September 16 at $50/day
  • If you are a new incoming first-year and already attended your Orientation in June, you will have an option to select an early move-in time beginning on September 14th. The cost is $50/day prior to the contract start day. Your student account will be charged if you move-in early. When you view your room assignment, you can change your move-in date/time from the available options. If you don’t want an early move-in option, then you can change your date/time if needed for September 17th or September 18th (move-in weekend).

Continuing Student Resident

  • Early move-in option available: September 14 to September 16 at $50/day
  • If you are a current continuing student, you will have an option to select an early move-in time beginning on September 14th. The cost is $50/day prior to the contract start day. Your student account will be charged if you move-in early. If you don’t want an early move-in option, then you can change your date/time if needed for September 17th or September 18th (move-in weekend). Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information.

New Incoming EAP Students

  • Early move-in option available: September 14 to September 16 at $50/day
  • If you are an incoming EAP/R student, you will have an option to select an early move-in time beginning on September 14th. The cost is $50/day prior to the contract start day. Your student account will be charged if you move-in early. If you don’t want an early move-in option, then you can change your date/time if needed for September 17th or September 18th (move-in weekend). Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information. Please contact the ERC Residential Life Office if you have specific questions regarding your early move-in option.


Bedspace Assignment

When viewing your room assignment, please note you’ve been assigned to a bedspace (the letter after your room number). View our diagrams of the bedspaces with letters. These are typical layouts for most housing areas. You may contact your Residential Life Office with questions.

Satisfaction First Guarantee For Incoming First-Year and Incoming Transfer Students

We stand behind our Housing and Dining program 100%, which is why we offer incoming first-year students and incoming transfer students a unique guarantee of their “Satisfaction First!”

If you feel our Residential Housing and Dining program does not meet your needs or expectations, you will have from the day you take occupancy this fall until 4pm on Thursday, September 22, 2016 to terminate your Housing Contract. If you terminate within this specific period, you will receive a full refund of your Residential Housing payment, less Dining Plan usage exceeding the prorated amount, any early move-in charges or damage charges. Our “Satisfaction First” guarantee is valid for incoming first-year students and incoming transfer students during the period of time specified and is not available or applicable any other time throughout the duration of your stay on campus. Specific details on your guarantee will be available at your Residential Life Office when you arrive on campus this fall.
