Cancellation Process:

For more information visit: Go to the Housing Portal and login with your campus credentials. Select on the appropriate link to submit your request to cancel.  All students with a housing contract can cancel up until August 31 to receive their full $450 prepayment refunded.

Assigned Move-In Date/Time

When you are able to view your room assignment, students are each given an assigned move-in date and time designed to better regulate traffic flow and avoid crowded conditions on move-in weekend. Students who cannot make their assigned move-in date/time or decide to change this assigned date/time, will be able to select a new date/time from the available options when you view your room assignment. A confirmation email will be sent to the student’s UC San Diego email address with any changes made to their assigned move-in date/time. The deadline for any changes is Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 11:59pm! Changes will not be permitted unless you’ve contacted your Residential Life Office. Questions about move-in should be directed to your Residential Life Office. Welcome Letter/Email should be sent well before Labor Day weekend and will contain specific move-in details!

We are expecting over 11,000 students to arrive on campus along with their parents/guardians and families.  Campus will be impacted so please plan accordingly.  There will be a high volume of traffic and parking may be limited. Please note that your assigned move-in date/time is designed to help make your move-in a smoother process. Any changes to that assigned move-in date/time may result in longer waiting periods for parking, elevators and check-in.

Alternate or Early Move-In Options

We know many students are attending a September Orientation or you may just want the option to move-in early (subject to availability). Please check below to see what options are available to you and the associated costs. Any additional move-in charges will be assessed to your housing account in October. All students must be moved-in by Tuesday, September 25th at 4:00pm.

  • Early move-in option available (subject to availability): September 14, September 17 to September 21
  • Cost is $45/day prior to the contract start day of September 22nd. Your student account will be charged if you move-in early. If you don’t want an early move-in option, then you can change your date/time if needed for September 22nd or September 23rd (move-in weekend). Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information. Selecting an early move-in time is optional and not required. The choice is yours!
  • Early move-in option available (subject to availability): September 19 to September 21 at $45/day
  • If you are a current continuing student, you will have an option to select an early move-in time beginning on September 19th. Early move-in is optional and not required. The cost is $45/day prior to the contract start day. Your student account will be charged if you move-in early. If you don’t want an early move-in option, then you can change your date/time if needed for September 22nd or September 23rd (move-in weekend). We will also offer move-in times for Monday, September 24th and Tuesday, September 25th as well. Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information and are subject to availability
  • ONLY For Continuing Students Residing at Muir College:

    If you will be living at Muir this year, move-in is going to be a challenge because of the large construction project we are right next to!  This construction project has eliminated the two Muir parking lots that serviced Muir and now no longer exist!  You can help us to make the move-in process for you as smooth as possible by following these few tips! 

    Your move-in time allows you to check in within a 2-hour window, otherwise you will not be permitted to check in until the end of the day. 

    Muir check-in begins on Saturday, September 15.  All move-ins  must occur during the available times.  There will be no additional charges for arriving ahead of the contract start date which is September 22.  If you have been charged for housing Orientation, we will review it with that particular College. Any student attending Orientation will continue to pay for the Orientation fee which is billed to your your student account.  Moving in early will allow you to avoid the heavy traffic and congestion we are anticipating as a result of this new construction project, and no parking lots adjacent to Muir. You will be permitted to use your “Dining Dollars” upon move-in (basically your meal plan), before the official start of the housing contract.

    We are encouraging you to pack light, and not to purchase large items before you arrive on campus.  Packing light will allow you to unload your car quickly, do our curbside check in, and settle into your living space as smoothly and as quickly as possible!  You can always buy the larger items you want, and what you want to share with your roommates/apartment-mates once you arrive!  Remember - there are no parking lots adjacent to Muir!

The cost is $45/day prior to the contract start day. Your student account will be charged if you move-in early. If you don’t want an early move-in option, then you can change your date/time if needed for September 22nd or September 23rd (move-in weekend). Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information and are subject to availability.

  • September Orientation Move-In: September 18 or September 19 only at $45/day
  • Early move-in option available (subject to availability): September 19 to September 21 at $45/day
  • If you are attending your September Orientation you will be able to select from available move-in date/times that adhere to Eleanor Roosevelt College Orientation move-in. Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information. Questions about September Orientation should be directed to your Residential Life Office. 
  • If you attended a June Orientation you will have an option to select an early move-in time beginning on September 19th. Early move-in is optional and not required. The cost is $45/day prior to the contract start day. Your student account will be charged if you move-in early. If you don’t want an early move-in option, then you can keep your currently assigned move-in date/time or change it from available times on September 22nd or September 23rd (move-in weekend). Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information and are subject to availability.
  • Please note that some incoming first year students will be allocated to The Village. You will receive appropriate information on where to move-in.  If you are attending September Orientation you will need to move-in on September 18/September 19.  Otherwise you can select an early arrival option or regular move-in on September 22/September 23.

  • If you are attending your September Orientation you will be able to select from available move-in date/times that adhere to Revelle College Orientation move-in. Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information. Questions about September Orientation should be directed to your Residential Life Office.
  • If you attended a June Orientation you will have an option to select an early move-in time beginning on September 19th. Early move-in is optional and not required. The cost is $45/day prior to the contract start day. Your student account will be charged if you move-in early. If you don’t want an early move-in option, then you can keep your currently assigned move-in date/time or change it from available times on September 22nd or September 23rd (move-in weekend). Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information and are subject to availability.
  • September Orientation Move-In: September 16
  • Early move-in option available (subject to availability): September 19 to September 21 at $45/day
  • If you are attending your September Orientation you will be able to select from available move-in date/times that adhere to Sixth College Orientation move-in. Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information. Questions about September Orientation should be directed to your Residential Life Office.  Please note that some incoming first year students may be allocated to another College housing area.  If that happens, you will receive appropriate information on where to move-in.  All incoming Sixth College registered students will move-in on Sunday, September 16.
  • September Orientation Move-In: September 19 and applicable charges will follow.
  • All incoming Thurgood Marshall College (TMC) students will be attending a September Orientation. You will be able to select from available move-in date/times that adhere to Thurgood Marshall College Orientation move-in. Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information. Questions about September Orientation should be directed to your Residential Life Office.  Please note that some incoming first year students may be allocated to another College housing area.  If that happens, you will receive appropriate information on where to move-in.  All incoming Thurgood Marshall College registered students should plan on moving in on Wednesday, September 19.
  • September Orientation move-in: September 19 or September 20 only at $45/day. Charges will be assesed by October.
  • Early move-in option available (subject to availability): September 19 to September 21 at $45/day
  • If you are attending your September Orientation you will be able to select from available move-in date/times that adhere to Warren College Orientation move-in. Reservations will be open for self-selecting a new move-in date/time when you view your room assignment information. Questions about September Orientation should be directed to your Residential Life Office.
