New Muir College Apartments

The New Muir College Apartments development has broken ground!

The groundbreaking ceremony this past week brought together the Muir community to both recognize their history and future as ground was broken Tuesday, October 13th on the New Muir College Apartments.

You may not know it, but within the architecture community, Muir College is highly regarded as a wonderfully intact example of the Modern movement in the ‘60s in San Diego.

The architects who had the vision for the master plan and flavor of the college’s look and feel were among the top firms in San Diego at the time. In fact, the new architect was thrilled to be a part of the expansion project, having grown up admiring Robert Mosher and Dale Naegle’s Modern work. And that’s apparent in the resulting plans… it’s very much an extension of what already exists and defines Muir College, with an updated twist.

The housing complex is planned to open FALL 2011.
