HOURS Service Hours of Operation are Monday–Saturday, 7am to 6pm. Open Sundays with $2500 minimum order.
Catering Sales is available Monday–Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.
We are closed University Holidays. Please contact Catering Sales for special events outside our normal hours of operation.
EXTENDED HOURS
Catering services beginning before 7am or after 6pm will incur a $20.00 flat fee.
FACILITY RESERVATIONS
The first step in planning your event is to select and reserve space. Reservations may be made by contacting each location directly. Conference rooms at UCSD can be found here.
CATERING RESERVATIONS You may place your order by filling out an online request form http://hds.ucsd.edu/catering or calling us at (858) 534-3688. We will work with you to create a menu from our extensive selections or design a unique menu customized for your event.
We will process your order and email you a contract for your review. A signed contract including all changes must be received prior to your event.

TABLES AND CHAIRS Please clarify table and chair requirements with the facility when reserving your space. UC San Diego Catering does not supply tables and chairs. You can make arrangements with UCSD Facilities Management at http://pps.ucsd.edu/forms/events.html. UC San Diego Catering can assist with the rentals of canopies, umbrellas, tents, stages and lighting.
LINENS AND TABLEWARE UC San Diego Catering includes linens for food and beverage buffet tables. Food and beverage service includes high quality paper and black plastic ware. Linens, napkins and skirting for guest tables, registration tables, etc. are available at an additional cost. China, glassware, and flatware are available for $3.50 per person. Please consult with your sales professional.
BUFFET DÉCOR UC San Diego Catering can provide buffet décor including floral arrangements and theme party decorations for an additional fee. Please ask your sales professional for details. All décor items are the property of UC San Diego Catering, unless otherwise specified. Items not returned after your event will result in additional charges on the final bill.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES UC San Diego Catering is not licensed to purchase, distribute, or sell alcohol.
We can accommodate clients in the following manner:
- UC San Diego Catering can arrange for an ABC certified and appropriately insured bartender or server for internal (recharge) clients who serve wine and beer only (no spirits), when the client purchases, stores and delivers their own beverage via the HPVO process or has the items donated. Wine and beer must be delivered to the licensed bartender at the event location one hour prior to the event start time. No exceptions. Client must remove all alcoholic beverages at the conclusion of the event.
- UC San Diego Catering clients wishing to provide a non-hosted bar, or to serve beer, wine, and spirits must contract directly with a third party licensed and appropriately insured beverage vendor for purchase, storage, service, and delivery of alcohol. The client must purchase alcohol and alcohol related service via the HVPO process and make payment directly to the licensed vendor. Contracts/BEOs for such services must be signed in HDH Purchasing and not by the client. Client must remove all alcoholic beverages at the conclusion of the event.

Please be aware, it is the responsibility of the event host to obtain all necessary UC San Diego alcohol permits, UC San Diego required signatures and approvals prior to the event.
Important: If you plan to serve beer, wine, or spirits at your event, you must submit a “Use of Alcohol” form to campus police (at least 3-4 weeks prior to event) for approval. http://adminrecords.ucsd.edu/ppm/docs/510-1.13exa.pdf
In accordance with PPM #510-1, alcohol cannot be recharged. Refer to: Use of Alcoholic Beverages for a UCSD-Sponsored Event or Meeting
BEVERAGE SERVICE Hosted Wine, Champagne and Beer Set Up is available for $ 3.50 per person and includes plastic compostable cups, filled Ice buckets, beverage napkins, Ice scoop, Wine bottle opener, lemons and limes. Additional items may be purchased including:

TRASH AND RECYCLING It is the responsibility of each client to arrange for trash and recycling. Please contact Facilities Management for services at (858) 534-2930 or email your request to wsc@ucsd.edu.
EVENT STAFF All Food and Beverage pricing includes delivery and set up and breakdown. Event Staff is available for an additional charge.
Server / Bartender / Chef / Captain / Event Coordinator costs begin at $28.00 per hour per staff person, with a minimum of 4 hours.
All staff will be professionally dressed in attire appropriate for your event.
As all special events are unique, please be aware that many factors dictate the level of labor and staff required. Your sales professional will assist you in calculating your final staffing needs.
SERVICE CHARGE As a courtesy, UC San Diego Catering waives the customary 20% service charge.
BOOK EARLY! UC San Diego Catering services may sell out when maximum capacity is reached. We recommend booking as early as possible. All orders must be placed at least three (3) business days before an event.

Last minute orders may be accepted with the following penalties:
- within 2 Business Days, 10% of total will be charged
- within 1 Business Day, 25% of total will be charged
These fees also apply to all changes within those time periods.
CONTRACT TIMES
Event delivery and pick-up times provided on your contract are considered accurate and final. All space must be open and available at least one hour prior to your start time for our staff to deliver and set up your event. Events with unscheduled return trips will incur a $10.00 additional fee.
TRAVEL FEE Special events booked at locations outside the main campus will incur a transportation fee. Please consult your catering professional for details.

MINIMUM ORDER Many menu items have a minimum quantity requirement.
Events held in the Price Center have no minimum order requirement.
Catering events held outside the Price Center must have a minimum of $150.00 worth of food and beverage.
GUARANTEED ATTENDANCE Guaranteed guest count must be submitted no later than three (3) working days prior to your event. This number cannot be reduced. If the number of guests exceeds the guarantee, the client will be charged for the actual number attending. If a final guarantee is not submitted, the original contracted guest count will be used for billing purposes.
CANCELLATIONS Cancellations made less than 48 hours of the event will be charged the full contract amount.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY All prices are subject to change. Due to seasonality, certain items may not be available.

UC San Diego Catering events at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography will incur a 15% surcharge on food and beverage if paid by Visa, MasterCard, Cash or check.
UC SAN DIEGO DEPARTMENTS UC San Diego Catering accepts index numbers from University departments and student organizations. Sales tax is not charged when an index number is provided for full payment of an event.
If you charge the expense(s)/entertainment expense(s) to an index, you are required to maintain accountability in line with UCSD policy on University sponsored entertainment. Read the guidelines for assistance.
Registered Student Organizations will receive a 15% discount off of retail food and beverage prices for events held in the Price Center.
OFF CAMPUS GROUPS A 30% deposit must accompany your signed contract. Full payment must be received within two weeks of the final billing.
GROUP PARKING Parking at UC San Diego is limited. Parking is free of charge Saturday, Sundays and University Holidays. Reserved spaces, signs and other special parking arrangements may be coordinated through: UC San Diego Special Events Parking at (858) 534-0274.
LEFTOVER FOOD Based on public health and safety concerns, UC San Diego Catering can not package leftover perishable foods.
